I'm Not Dead...I'm still here

It's been a while since I've posted. After some soul searching, a root canal and deciding what direction I wanted to take my project in, I can give a glimpse of what to expect in 11 or so hours. This is the final drawing process I took while I was doing my 3D Model.

Note it isn't full rendered, it is just a sketchup model.

Stay tuned for interior perspectives....

Sketch Design #3

So I stuck with the same curve design but I added more structure to the building to give the idea that building look we all love.

I still have a slight idea where I want things to go. But most of that is still up in the air right now.

The overall height of the structure so far is 46'. I did want to try to build up to the 85' mark to obtain a more dramatic feel but I don't know if its going to happen at this point.

Design Sketch #2

This is from last week. I ended up staying with the same curve idea, but I followed it through most of the site. I took it to a more extreme level and tried to create spaces with the curves and I added a flat surface to give an idea of where I would start laying out a floor for a lounge or restaurant.

*ignore the colors* :)

Design Sketch #1

This was the first concept that came to mind (with the help of others). I utilized my favorite concept model from the previous assignment.
I created spaces underneath the positive and negative spaces in the model, and just played with it a little. I'm going to follow through with this design this week and see where it takes me.

Concept Models

We were given the task to create 9 quick study models from our "Connection" collage. I derived these 9 small models from my collage. I focused mainly on the images of the soundwave, the handshake and the abstract photo of the colors coming together.

I wanted to focus mainly on shapes, getting larger and smaller in succession. I also liked the idea of sound waves and I think it lends itself very well to my project.

"Connection"

With this assignment we were to pick images that represented the word "Connection". I focused on the sound wave in the middle of the image. Because music has played a large role in some of my friendships and relationships that I have today. Even though I don't see some of my friends all the time, we share a connection through the music we love.

The water portrays a coming together to create a larger pool or a larger connection. The picture all the way to the right represents different colors connecting. Even though they were of different shades, and coming in from different directions the image still has a synergy within, and it works.

Between the image of the soundwave and the abstract colors. I think they lend a helping hand to my club atmosphere.

Case Study Analysis: 222 Lounge

I'm going with this project because it's a small lounge/restaurant build into an existing site. It's around the size of a that I would like to incorporate into my building. I love how it takes advantage of the surrounding site.

Case Study Analysis: Pacha NYC

I'm using this Case Study to take advantage of one of the more premiere clubs that New York has to offer. It's a 30,000 square foot space, with four floors and multiple functions with each floor. The remarkable part of this building is that it can easily have multiple parties going on at the same time, but also give way to one large party.

Pachita Miniclub/Lounge 4th Floor

Even though there are no exterior views of this club. It's built in an old existing building. The floorplans show how a successful club can operate. The layout works and that's what I'm trying to bring out.

Case Study Analysis: Concert Hall Dubrovnick, Croatia

This was a concert hall design for Dubrovnick, Croatia. The designer mainly designed from the inside out, and I feel that I'm going to taking the same approach for my Nightclub/Lounge/Complex.

Case Study Analysis: Sinfonia Varsovia Concert Hall

The Sinfonia Varsovia Concert Hall, designed by Atelier Thomas Pucher is a 20,000 square foot concert hall being built in Warsaw in 2016. Even though I'm looking to design a dance hall with a nightclub, lounge atmosphere. I feel that a concert hall of this magnitude can lend some similar design approaches, with seating, performance spaces, and mainly acoustics.

Case Study Analysis: Taboo Lounge, Bar and Restaurant by Guilherme Torres

Since, I'm going to be doing more of an entertainment complex, with nightclubs, lounges and restaurants. It's difficult to find good examples of all of them together. So this is a great example of a pretty large lounge. It is a lounge located in Curitiba, Brazil.
