Case Study Analysis: 222 Lounge

I'm going with this project because it's a small lounge/restaurant build into an existing site. It's around the size of a that I would like to incorporate into my building. I love how it takes advantage of the surrounding site.

Case Study Analysis: Pacha NYC

I'm using this Case Study to take advantage of one of the more premiere clubs that New York has to offer. It's a 30,000 square foot space, with four floors and multiple functions with each floor. The remarkable part of this building is that it can easily have multiple parties going on at the same time, but also give way to one large party.

Even though there are no exterior views of this club. It's built in an old existing building. The floorplans show how a successful club can operate. The layout works and that's what I'm trying to bring out.

Case Study Analysis: Concert Hall Dubrovnick, Croatia

This was a concert hall design for Dubrovnick, Croatia. The designer mainly designed from the inside out, and I feel that I'm going to taking the same approach for my Nightclub/Lounge/Complex.

Case Study Analysis: Sinfonia Varsovia Concert Hall

The Sinfonia Varsovia Concert Hall, designed by Atelier Thomas Pucher is a 20,000 square foot concert hall being built in Warsaw in 2016. Even though I'm looking to design a dance hall with a nightclub, lounge atmosphere. I feel that a concert hall of this magnitude can lend some similar design approaches, with seating, performance spaces, and mainly acoustics.

Case Study Analysis: Taboo Lounge, Bar and Restaurant by Guilherme Torres

Since, I'm going to be doing more of an entertainment complex, with nightclubs, lounges and restaurants. It's difficult to find good examples of all of them together. So this is a great example of a pretty large lounge. It is a lounge located in Curitiba, Brazil.

Design Idea Questions

1. Which building typology are you researching?

I decided to go the hospitality route and design a nightclub/lounge/restaurant.

2. Why are you researching this building typology?

I'm researching this because, I love music, particularly electronic music and there are fantastic venues around the world, but New York lacks in this area. The type of venues we have here are much smaller, underground, bar type clubs. I want to make one built for every type of situation.. It would be more than just a nightclub for dancing. It would be more of an entertainment complex, but music would be the focal point.

3. What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research?

Well depending on the spacial limitations I would like to make an epic, large scale dance venue. With a restaurant, lounge and other spaces that would accommodate different party sizes.

 4. What are the examples that you will be researching?

There are literally thousands of clubs that cover the globe. To narrow it down would be difficult. If I were to pic 10 these would be it.
